Silent meditation retreats invite participants to discover and experience their own innate silence—the indispensable ground of any spiritual practice. Like intensives, these retreats begin with an opening talk; the rest of the day is given primarily to silent sitting, with frequent breaks to stretch and walk, and generally one period of personal instruction, as Emily facilitates individual explorations of stillness in a comfortable and supportive environment.
Residential Retreats Residential retreats combine satsang-type sittings, facilitated group sessions, and meditation into an extended period of introspection and renewal. The annual four-day retreat at Mount Shasta provides a rare opportunity to pursue self-discovery and personal and spiritual renewal buoyed by Emily’s teachings and one-on-one guidance, all in a beautiful natural setting that nurtures and supports our collective pursuit of honesty, surrender, and stillness. The extended format includes five sessions with Emily that combine discussion and individual facilitation with inspirational talks and silent sitting, all focused on guiding each participant toward an internal realignment with that which is hopeful, wise, and life-affirming.
“At the root of all I have heard from Emily is the imperative to live my life boldly and deeply, to find the truth of love and strength within the shattering of my illusions and defenses, to discover my Self within myself.”
